I couldn't resist posting one more time to show you how my client, Danni, looks in the new robe she got for Christmas! She is so ready for her massage...
May you have a truly brilliant holiday season, and a furtastic new year with your animal family and friends!
As has become tradition for me, I will be taking the rest of 2021, as well as January 2022, off from social media and posting (for the most part--look for at least one post where I welcome back one of my favourite guests, Animal Communicator Marybeth Haines, in early January). As things stand right now, I will still be seeing clients in the new year, so you can reach out to me and schedule some soothing massage (if you feel comfortable doing so, and based on how things are with Omicron at the time) and comforting Reiki for your fur babies. And I'll see you again on social media in February! All these amazing birds are available for adoption...find out more through Parrot Adoptions Ontario! Georgie is a Moluccan Cockatoo. He is 23 years old and has been in his current home for 19 years! He is located in MISSISSAUGA. Georgie has shown a preference for males and his family recommends no children in the home. He has feather destructive behaviour and has seen his vet regarding this. He is looking for lots of attention and out of cage time. He can be typical Cockatoo volume and loves to chew. He is generally intolerant of other animals. Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in adopting Georgie. Applications are located in the file section of the page Chiku is a one year old female Cockatiel located in Milton. She is looking for a home that can allow her to be out of her cage most of the day and will leave her flighted. She is tame and loves people including small children and other birds. She is looking for a home with another bird or birds as she seems to enjoy their company. She does not come with her cage. Kiwi and Mango are located in ORILLIA. Kiwi is a Green Cheek Conure, assumed male and appox. 8 years old. Mango is a Pineapple Green Cheek and is around 4 years old. Mango is tame and will step up and give kisses. Kiwi has become territorial and he will bite if you try to get him to step up first. if you pick up Mango first, he will then step up without issue and hang out with you. There is another bird in the home and when they are out, they gang up on the other bird so they need to go to a home without other birds or one that can work on this or have separate out of cage times. They are not children friendly. Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in adopting this cute pair of Conures. 3 beautiful budgies, Cass (Male) , Maya (female) and Jack (male) are looking for a new home. They love to fly and the family wants them to remain flighted. They are in Toronto and are between the ages of 1 1/2 and 2 years. With time and patience they can become tame, however at this time they are not completely tame. Would love if they could be adopted together as a trio, but Maya could be adopted on her own if the new home has a female companion for her. If you are interested in these birds, please complete an application in the files section. UPDATE NOV. 17/21 PAPPU AND PAGLI HAVE BEEN ADOPTED BUT PICO, DODU AND PAPPI ARE STILL LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME. We have 5 Budgies looking for a new home. Pico, Dodu, Pappu, Pappi and Pagli are located in Mississauga. They are 2.5 years old and are looking for a home together where they can get the out of cage time they are used to. They are tame and will come on your finger to visit and sit with you. They don't have experience with other animals. Nicebird and Stubby are located in NEWMARKET. They are 2 female Moustache Parakeets. They are tame and enjoy human company. They are 26 and 27 years old. They are shy with strangers at first. Mango is looking for a home where he can feel safe and loved as he was rescued from an empty apartment. He is located in Orleans. He has just lost his best friend to cancer and is grieving so his family feels he really needs a home with a friend for him. His best friend was Peaches, another lovebird. He will step up and is just beautiful. Enzo is a male peach front conure. He is high energy and he needs an experienced handler to redirect his aggression. He is flighted and needs to remain that way in order to burn off some of his energy. He is currently living in Hillsburgh. If any of these birds "speak to you," please complete an application which can be found in the file section of this page. From Parrot Adoptions Ontario:
This 11th day is a two-for...a bonded pair of Red-eared Slider turtles from the Toronto Humane Society are looking for a home together! From Venus & Neptune's THS page: Had been training nonstop for the upcoming summer olympics till it got canceled. A speedy team of turtles holding the current freestyle record with nowhere to compete? A turtle bummer. They need somewhere to camp out while they work on a new gameplan. What will they do? Bring them home to find out. These guys are looking for a home where they can get out a couple of times a week for a stroll and get that needed exercise. Quickest way to their hearts? Veggies. Proper research should be done before deciding if a turtle is the right fit for your home, lifestyle and family. If you're interested in taking this pair home, start the adoption process here: adopt-a-pet/adoption-process. Please note: Turtles are long lived animals that require daily care and attention. They can live up to 50+ years and will require owners who are committed to keeping them happy and healthy. Adult Turtles need approximately 80-120 gallon aquariums per animal, depending on the sex. This can be achieved with a large aquarium or a preformed pond, depending on the location in the home. A large external filter which should ideally turn the volume of the water over twice per hour is one of the essentials to have. UV light is extremely important for them as it mimics the sun, which has an immediate effect on their natural behaviour, skin and shell health and helps them absorb calcium into their bodies, which we as caregivers add to their diets. Water temperature should be 72 to 76 deg with a dry area and basking spot in the high 80's. Please note a picture of a suitable enclosure, fully prepared, will be needed prior to adoption finalization.Think you're the one? Begin our adoption process here! adopt-a-pet/adoption-process Find out even more about these two terrific turtles at THS and how to adopt them right here!
Day 10 is all about Bella and her daughter Rosie, from the Annex Cat Rescue! Bella and Rosie are a sweet but shy bonded pair. They were colony cats for most of their lives, being cared for by some kind people who contacted ACR when Bella stopped coming to be fed and they realized she was very sick. Wonderfully, both cats are in good health now and are absolutely thriving in their new lives indoors. Bella (8 years old) is the more shy of the two but has comes leaps and bounds in the last 6 months in foster care. She now regularly accepts pets and snuggles and has started hanging out on top of the couch and bed much more often than she hides underneath them! Bella does not like to be picked up and prefers to socialize with humans on her own terms. But if you give her time and space you will be so rewarded on the day she rolls over for "Belly time" and asks for chest and tummy scratches because she trusts you. Bella also LOVES food and knows the sound of someone licking a churu tube from across the house. She somehow always materializes when treats or a can of food is being opened. Bella gets along great with other cats and enjoys playing with her friends more than any toys. She is a fan of catnip however and will roll around and kick and chew cat nip toys if offered them once she is settled in. Bella is FIV+ and has some gingivitis that causes her to drool a bit sometimes but she had a recent full dental work up (and one tooth removed) so is otherwise healthy! FIV is not a death sentence, in fact a cat can live a long happy life with it and without passing it onto other kitties. You can read more about FIV here: https://annexcatrescue.ca/educate/adopting-cat-fiv/. Rosie (5 years old) is Bella's daughter, which might be hard to believe because she is almost twice her size! The people who were feeding Rosie most of her life described her as a "gentle giant" and that's absolutely true. Rosie is full of personality and love. Her foster parents affectionately call her "Rolo" because of how often she flops down and rolls onto her back for snuggles and belly rubs. Rosie loves playing with toys and other cats. She will run laps and frolic in the wee hours of the night but prefers to spend her mornings in bed snuggling with her foster parents. Rosie had a bad eye when she was rescued that was growing excessive scar tissue and affecting her vision and overall quality of life. ACR spent months treating with various medicated drops and even a surgery to try and save the eye but it was ultimately removed and Rosie is 100% happier for it. She loves watching cat TV, playing with her kitty friends and "rolling" through life. Likely because of needing so much treatment and care from humans, Rosie is more comfortable around them than Bella and she has no issues being picked up or carried around and even purrs and falls asleep on her foster mom's chest sometimes when getting cuddles. Rosie and Bella would love a home with or without other cats where they can be given some time to decompress with adopters who understand it may take a few months to get to fully see the amazing personalities of these two girls shine. They would like a home that promises lots of treats and, eventually, snuggles with a spot by a window for them to call home! Look for more info about Bella and Rosie on their ACR page...and if you're right for this kitty, you can find adoption procedure info, too!

Day 9 brings not only THREE new adoptable pets, but a new rescue network! Let's welcome Parrot Adoptions Ontario and find out more about Jeseus (aka Zeus), Lily, and Weebaca, three cockatiels looking for their forever home! Weebaca and Jeseus are siblings and are 12 years old and Lily is 13 years old. Lily is special needs as she has a genetic condition where her flight feathers are affected. She can’t fly but sometimes forgets that. She is safest with padding on the floor near her cage and ladders for her. She is tame and loves head scratches and to cuddle. Jeseus will also step on a finger but Weebaca prefers a t-perch to step up onto. The siblings are not cuddlers but will fly to hang out with you on your shoulder or head once they trust you. No young children as they scare them and they are not used to other animals. They are located in NORTH YORK. Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in these beauties. Ideally a home together is preferred but if needed, a home for the Weebaca and Jeseus and then one for Lily since she is special needs will be considered. Also because two of them are siblings, an environment that discourages mating is necessary. From Parrot Adoptions Ontario: Zeus just loves to sing!
