Meet Jimmy! He had a rough start to his first year of life, recovering from injuries likely due to a motor-vehicle while struggling to survive alone outdoors. These poorly healed injuries left him with a ‘funny' walk but haven't held him back one bit since being indoors. Jimmy still loves to run, jump and play especially with other playful felines so he will need to be adopted into a home with at least one other friendly cat.

He also enjoys the company of people, accepting pets, belly rubs and even engaging in play with laser pointers or wand toys. His environment will need to be taken into consideration as he cannot jump higher than 2 ft, so cat trees, chairs and couches will need to be strategically placed to help him access sunny windows or your bed.

Jimmy will need someone experienced with former street/rescue cats, who understand his early experiences left him needing to learn how to trust humans. Jimmy will start out shy and even choose to hide in your presence and it should be expected that he will need time to adjust to his new environment and people. Having a friendly cat companion will help him get there, and his love of treats (and food!) will help you earn your way into his heart. With time and patience Jimmy will even let you clip his nails and clean his ears, between lots of pets of course.

Potential adopter(s) will need to be committed to keeping Jimmy on a mostly wet-food diet and at an ideal weight (ie. no free-feeding for this boy) as his affected joints will have to be monitored throughout his lifetime.

Jimmy must be adopted as a buddy to a friendly resident kitty.

AND HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THE COLD WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR DOGS?

I wanted to follow-up my recent article from February with tips for what you can do with your pup (or cat) when it's too cold outside by giving my clients, social media followers, and newsletter subscribers the floor!

Marwa says: "...when its too cold out, we play games inside, learn new tricks (puppr app), change up our eating style with food puzzles, kongs, create trails on the floor with kibble... What is too cold? Well, depends on the dog breed and size, mine are both M-L and double-coated...when its too cold for me with all my gear then its def too cold for them + always check the forecast for weather warnings...(I) bundle them only to protect from rain - no booties - (I) protect their paws with wax/coconut oil."

Check out the adorable photo of one of Marwa's dogs, Remy, above this article.

Priya says:
"I like to hide treats for her around the house and make her go sniffing around for them. I also put peanut butter inside her kong toys. There is no such thing as too cold for Kaia, she thrives in the cold and hates her coat..."

Check out these lovely pics of Kaia below:

Valerie says that Max, her Chihuahua Dachshund cross, doesn't like the cold at all, ever, so slightly cold is too cold for him! But he's got his treat ball made by FouFou Dog (and available in pet stores such as Small Wonders Pets on the Danforth) to keep him busy inside.

Check out the adorable photo of Max above, and the video of Max playing with his beloved treat ball!

Ingrid says:
"...Too cold I’d say about -10 or less.
We play hide and seek (when inside) - he waits in a room, I hide a toy and he comes out to find it. I (also) give him massages (and) I fill up his treat dispensing toys
."
