Raxl and I went live on the Kuri K9 Massage Facebook Page yesterday at noon...check it out HERE and below is the script for the session:
"Hey everybody! I hope you've had a chance to visit Kuri K9 Massage's Facebook page and Instagram accounts, as well as it's group, Pet Massage and Alternative Therapies (on Facebook) to check out all the information I've been posting on precautions before proceeding with pet massage therapy. This is part of the reason I always gather a case history for my new clients by interviewing Mom or Dad by email and in person prior to the first massage. Sometimes what's called a "contraindication" will arise, which will mean massage therapy may have to be modified or put on hold. This is also why it's very important for each new client's veterinarian to be aware that their fur baby will be receiving massage therapy treatments, in case there's anything in their medical history that I need to be aware of. BTW, leave me a quick comment to let me know if you're watching live or the replay — just post "live" or "replay" in the comments. Thank you! I'll put links to Kuri K9 Massage's Instagram account, Facebook Page and Facebook Group in this live video's comments, so you have the opportunity to review all the information. But just to list one more time the precautions I've discussed over the last few weeks, they are: Acute pain and/or inflammation; After meals (wait 90 min); Cancer; Circulation problems; Dermatological conditions; Diabetes; Epilepsy; Fever; Heart conditions; Infectious or contagious disease; In season; Post surgery; and Pregnancy A number of the precautions I just mentioned can be worked around in some way, either by lightening the pressure of the strokes, keeping massage brief, avoiding a certain area of the body, or waiting a certain amount of time until the issue is resolved before starting or continuing massage therapy. So, in most cases, massage therapy is doable at some point or in modified form. Please feel free to leave me questions or comments—I look forward to discussing all this with you! Next time, I'll be posting the benefits of massage therapy on Kuri K9 Massage's Facebook Page, Group and Instagram accounts. See you soon!"
