ADOPTED!!! Ernesto is a retired tomcat and a big softy at heart. He was found on the street in winter 2019 with infections in his eyes, ears and gums. After being treated, neutered and having all of his teeth removed, he began a new chapter in his foster home For weeks, Ernesto only felt safe when hidden under the bed. He allowed his foster mom to gently scratch his head under the bed, but he only came out to eat and use the litterbox when nobody was around. Over the course of many weeks, he slowly began to trust his foster mom. He now loves being petted and brushed, especially on the head and behind his puffy cheeks, and he purrs softly. His tail is something to behold: when he's happy, it spins around in huge circles and knocks down everything in its path! Currently, Ernesto is not a lap cat. He chooses to stay on the floor while being petted, and he does not like being picked up. When not being petted, Ernesto loves to snooze, attack his catnip toys and watch keenly out the window. Ernesto is extremely observant and alert to sounds, smells and movements. He has become quite curious and enjoys exploring all the nooks and crannies in his foster home! Ernesto LOVES to eat. He will sing you a symphony of meows to remind you that it's mealtime, and given the chance, he will devour everything in sight! Check out Ernesto's Instagram account to hear him meow and to watch him cuddle and play! Find it at: https://www.instagram.com/ernesto_de_la_calle/ Ernesto is FIV+ and has ongoing symptoms that are typical of feline herpes (a cat "cold"), specifically: clear discharge from his left eye and occasional sneezing. He is currently taking L-lysine powder, mixed in with his food twice daily, to help with the feline herpes. Ernesto would prefer a quiet home with no dogs or kids. If introduced over time in a way that allows him to feel safe, his foster mom believes that he could eventually bond with one other calm, non-aggressive cat. Ernesto will likely need to hide for several weeks in his new home and it may take time before he feels safe enough to interact with you. But if you are patient and allow him to take things at his own pace, you will be rewarded when his soulful and affectionate nature begins to shine through. ------------------- Ernesto is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. ------------------- To learn more about Ernesto and how to adopt, please leave your number and the best time to reach you at 416-410-3835 or at [email protected] Animal ID - 42651497

Pumpkin has been diagnosed with FLUTD, which stands for urinary tract disease. This ailment can be managed by feeding Pumpkin a special diet, and making sure he stays hydrated in the home. Pumpkin is a very curious boy who does not want to miss anything. When the staff and volunteers visit with him, he will immediately come up onto your lap for that special cuddle time. Just like any cat moving into a new home, Pumpkin would feel most comfortable staying in one room of his new home first, so he can decide when he is ready to explore the new territory at large.
