Do you remember Val, or Valentine? I posted about her on my 12 Adoptable Pets of the Holiday Season last year and several times on this blog and Kuri K9’s social media pages after that.
* Well, on November 8th Valentine made her way to Toronto! A HUGE thank you to everyone for sharing and donating to help this lovely lady make her way from Turkey to Toronto! * It was a bit of a hectic journey…it turned out her foster mom—now her FOREVER MOM—Carla unexpectedly had to jump in to do some of the paperwork and pick up at the airport, but she got it done and Val—now Bella—is in her forever home! * Welcome to Toronto, Bella! Welcome home!

You remember Kara, originally post 9 of my 12 Adoptable Pets of the Holiday Season in 2019? I posted about her several times as Tails of Istanbul and VANimal Rescue Society worked to fundraise, find a flight, and a volunteer to take Kara to Canada, as well as a foster home in Toronto...well, now she is with her forever family and her new name is Kaia! Kaia's forever home story is also mentioned in this week's Overseas Adoption video with her former foster mom, Courtney. Near the end of the video, I inserted a wee bit of footage from yet another interview I had done for this blog with Priya, Vegan Lifestyle Expert. She's Kaia's forever mom! Priya is also a client of mine (check out her testimonial on behalf of her beautiful kitties Isis and Casper). Small world, isn't it? Just look at this lovely lady, enjoying life! Now both Kaia and her sister, Meli, have found their homes here in Toronto! Interested in learning more about adopting from overseas? Check out VANimal Rescue Society!
Today my guest is Courtney Hines, who was Kara's foster mom for Vanimal Rescue Society! Kara--now Kaia--has found her forever home, but you can find out more about the fostering experience. Check out our chat: VANimal Rescue Society is a group dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of abandoned dogs & cats from Turkey. Check back next week for the final interview in my Overseas Adoption series, featuring Overseas adopter fur baby mom, Hannah Reisman!
Sweet Miss Dumpling is a confident, playful, and vocal black-and-white tuxedo. She is estimated to be about 2-3 years old. She is very curious, easy-going, friendly, and likes to always see what's happening. She likes to know that her people are nearby and so would do best with a family that is mostly home. She can be a bit nippy when anxious by herself or excited to see her foster parents (in the morning), but usually gentle and predictable. Since settling into her foster home she has become a lot more independent and has made strides in attachment/separation anxiety so it may just be reassuring her she's in a secure and stable home forever now. Dumpling's tastes are simple-her favourite things include going in cardboard boxes, paper bags and chasing shoelaces/rope, making her toys very eco-friendly! She loves to spend her afternoons napping in weird positions nearby, looking out the window, or asking for belly rubs. She has great litter box manners, as well! You can see videos of Dumpling in action here: To learn more about Dumpling and how to adopt, please leave your number and the best time to reach you at 416-410-3835 or at [email protected]
I'm an adult Mississippi map turtle with a sizable chunk out of my side. The rescue doesn't know how this happened since I was found wondering the street in the summer. The shelter recommends a 55 gallon tank for me. If you have a setup already, my adoption fee is only $40. Will you give me a forever home? About Caroline

I've decided to post three different interviews this month, all centering around adopting and fostering pets from overseas! Today, my guest is Sara Graham who runs VANimal Rescue Society, an organization that coordinates financing, transport, fosters and forever homes for animals that originate from overseas, particularly Turkey. Sara Graham is a branding consultant and the author of How To Make Big Moves: Relocate Without Losing Your Mind. She currently lives in Vancouver with her husband and 3 cats Tigerlily, Dragon & Lion. Join her on Facebook at VANimal Rescue Society, a group dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of abandoned dogs & cats from Turkey. And join me next week for my interview with Courtney Hines, who fostered Kara (now Kaia) for VANimal Rescue Society...
An elderly, portly, slightly bow-legged black cat is looking for a retirement forever home. Pseudo spent many years living outside in a managed feral colony near the waterfront. Then the developers came along and his caretakers found an indoor home for him with Annex Cat Rescue. He's adapted very well to indoor life with warm soft beds and having meals that won't be stolen by raccoons. His litter box habits are good and he's used to humans because of many years getting to know his colony feeders. As a former feral cat Pseudo will always be a little nervous and not fond of being picked up. With patience he will get to know his adopter and get comfortable in his new surroundings. Pseudo likes other cats and is used to living with them but he can be a little pushy around feeding time. If you want to be his friend, catnip is one of his favourite things. If someone can take the time to give him a chance, I'm sure this old gentleman will reveal a charming quirky personality. Who knows, he may even be up for some play sessions! To learn more about Pseudo and how to adopt, please leave your number and the best time to reach you at 416-410-3835 or at [email protected]
